Redmond Regional Medical Center, (originally Redmond Park Hospital), is located in Rome, Georgia, and is one of the largest employers in Floyd County with a staff of 1,200 and over 250 affiliated doctors. Redmond is a 230 bed medical, surgical and rehab unit serving Rome, Floyd County, and surrounding counties. Serving as the heart hospital for Northwest Georgia, Redmond offers a complete line of cardiac services and is the only dedicated chest pain center in Northwest Georgia. Other areas of excellence include emergency care, orthopaedics, vascular care, the surgery center, an inpatient rehabilitation unit and more. For coronary artery bypass surgery, heart attack care, knee surgery, total and partial hip joint replacement, and hip fracture surgery, the Redmond team excels.

Recent improvements include a new ICU wing, a new 34 bed medical/surgical unit made up of exclusively private rooms and an extended parking lot. Emergency Department and patient room renovations are currently underway.

• Redmond received four Joint Commission certifications: Disease Specific Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Joint Replacement, Heart Attack Care and was named Primary Stroke Center.

• Surpassed the 2008 United Way Campaign Goal of 100,000 with a final total of $112,000 raised.

• In 2008 Redmond made the commitment to "Go Green" by improving the internal recycling program, making a commitment to reduce waste where possible and use recycled and environmentally friendly materials.

• Redmond Inpatient Rehabilitation department earned the 2008 Top Performer Award from the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSmr). Redmond ranked in the top decile- the 90th percentile or above.

• Lisa Dempsey, RN, Oncology Nurse at Redmond was named a national employee finalist of HCA's Frist Humanitarian Award for 2007.

• The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) honored Redmond with the Patient Quality and Safety Award for Redmond’s project “Decreasing Door-to-Balloon Time for Patients Receiving PCI for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack).” The project won first place in the 100 to 299 beds category.

• The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) honored Redmond with the Patient Quality and Safety Award for Redmond’s project aimed at preventing health care acquired infections. The project titled, “Improving Healthcare Associated Infections: Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus” won first place in the health systems category as well as a second place Josh Nahum Special Achievement Award for Infection Prevention and Control.
